Soitec Opens Solar Manufacturing Facility in San Diego to Produce CPV Modules
December 19, 2012 — Soitec (Euronext) announced today the grand opening of its North American solar manufacturing facility in San Diego. Less than one year after the facility was acquired by Soitec, the factory is equipped with an automated production line and is operational. The concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules produced in San Diego will support hundreds of MWp of contracts for utility-scale projects in California. In 2011, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved 300MWp of PPAs which are expected to use Soitec's Concentrix technology. -

JinkoSolar to Jointly Invest and Develop 200MW PV Project with Jinchuan Group in Gansu
Dec. 20, 2012 - JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. today announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd. ("Jinchuan Group") to jointly invest and develop a 200MW photovoltaic ("PV") solar power plant in Jinchang, Gansu Province, China. Once connected to the grid, the project will become one of the Asia's largest independent PV solar power plants. -

8minutenergy Renewables, Gestamp Solar to Develop 20MW of Solar Energy for SDG&E PPA
December 17, 2012 - 8minutenergy Renewables, LLC and Gestamp Solar today announced the signing of a 20-year contract to sell approximately 20 megawatts-ac of clean, renewable solar energy from their Calipatria Solar Farm project in Imperial Valley, Calif., to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). The transaction was conducted with 70SM1 8ME, LLC, a subsidiary of 8minutenergy Renewables and Gestamp Solar. The two companies have a joint development agreement to develop and build the Calipatria Solar Farm project. -

AEG Opens a New Branch Office in Santiago de Chile Targeting Solar Market
20 December 2012 - AEG Power Solutions is carrying on developing its solar activities on growing markets outside Western Europe. The company is opening a new branch office in Santiago de Chile, focusing on this business. The office will be managed by Luis Garcia, former Managing Director of Opción Dos (Solar Engineering company, acquired by AEG PS in 2010). This office will be supported by Phd. At the beginning of 2013, centrotherm photovoltaics will deliver solar cell production systems for anti-reflective coating and phosphorous diffusion with a capacity of 300 megawatts to CECEP Solar Energy Technology (Zhenjiang) Co., Ltd. The tender for this solar cell line key equipment occurred as part of the first capacity expansion of their cell and module production. CECEP Solar awarded the order for the important core processes to centrotherm photovoltaics, the global market leader for diffusion and PECVD systems which is based at Blaubeuren, Germany. -
