Suntech and Solarstrom AG Sign 26MW Contract
Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. have signed a contract for Suntech to supply approximately 26 megawatts (MW) of monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels, which will be used for new power plants in Germany.

Canadian Solar US Projects Team Breaks Ground on 2.5MW Solar Plant in North Carolina
Canadian Solar Inc. and Mortenson Construction broke ground on a 2.5MW PV solar installation in Laurinburg, NC. The solar project is set to be completed in December 2012.

Ascent Solar to Provide CIGS Module to Silent Falcon System
Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. announced today it is collaborating with Silent Falcon UAS Technologies and Bye Aerospace to provide its lightweight, flexible copper-indium-gallium-diselenide (CIGS) photovoltaics to power the Silent Falcon™ unmanned aerial system (UAS). Silent Falcon™ is a small tactical UAS drone designed to be easily carried and used for longer-duration intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Recently unveiled at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) conference in Las Vegas, Silent Falcon™ represents the synergy of several new technologies, including ASTI's flexible photovoltaic modules, to provide a near silent, rapidly deployed platform that has multiple military and civilian applications. With three wing configurations available for different mission profiles, each Silent Falcon™ system could represent up to 30 modules.

SolarCity Expands Clean Energy Services in Arizona
SolarCity® has expanded its services in Arizona with the launch of a new operations center in Prescott Valley, and a second operations center in Phoenix that will service large-scale commercial and homebuilder projects. Sunways: Possible Return to Profit Zone from 2014 Onwards
The Sunways Group believes it will again be able to generate operating profits from 2014 onwards. This improvement of the financial situation is to be achieved mainly through sales and cost synergies resulting from the intensified cooperation with the Chinese LDK Solar Group. Following the public takeover offer, LDK Solar Germany Holding GmbH is the new majority shareholder of the Konstanz-based photovoltaics manufacturer. "At present, we have to cope with individual but mostly also with industry-related structural problems. The pace of consolidation in the photovoltaics industry has accelerated significantly", said Michael Wilhelm, CEO of Sunways, at the company's general meeting held in Singen today. Wilhelm explained the reasons for the major losses incurred in the fiscal 2011 but also emphasized: "Due to the partnership with the LDK Solar Group, the prospects of the technology specialist Sunways are much better than they would be under a stand-alone strategy. In terms of operating profit, we plan to report black figures again in 2014."

JinkoSolar to Power First Off-Grid Utility Scale PV System in South Africa
JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. will work with EPC partner Solea Renewables to deliver a Limpopo province chrome mine with the first ever off-grid utility scale photovoltaic system in South Africa. The 1 megawatt plant will produce approximately 1.8GWh of electricity per year and will effectively reduce the mine's daytime diesel dependency for the next 20 to 30 years.
