Suzlon and Canadian Solar Partner for 30MW Solar Project in Telangana
Suzlon Group today announced a joint venture with Canadian Solar for two solar projects of 15MW each at the sites of Ramannapet and Kamareddy, Telangana. Canadian Solar shall acquire 49% stake in Avighna Solarfarms Limited and Amun Solarfarms Limited, the special purpose vehicles (SPVs) setup by Suzlon for executing these projects. -

Trina Solar Announces 19.86% Aperture Efficiency for Multicrystalline Silicon Solar Module
Trina Solar Limited today announced that its State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology of China (the "SKL PVST") has set a new world record of 19.86% aperture efficiency for its high-efficiency "Honey Plus" multicrystalline silicon (mc-Si) solar module, which contains 120 pieces of P-type mc-Si solar cells (156x78mm2). The result has been independently verified by the Fraunhofer ISE CalLab in Germany. -

Geco Supplies Aluminum Solar Mounting Structures for 2MW Ground Mounted Project in Japan
Geco Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., recently received a new order from a Japanese client to supply aluminum solar mounting structures for a 2MW ground mounted solar project in Toyokawa, Japan. The area has a challenging climate—wind speeds can reach 38m/s and snow loads up to 99 cm—but Geco's newly developed aluminum solar mounting systems met the customer's demanding requirements. The system is made of high-strength aluminum alloy with a sophisticated surface treatment of anodic oxidation AA15, making it both durable and attractive. -

Engie and Holyoke Gas & Electric Announce Construction of a 5.76MW Solar Farm in USA
Mt. Tom Solar, LLC, a subsidiary of ENGIE North America, held a groundbreaking ceremony today for a 5.76 megawatt solar farm on the property of the former coalfired Mt. Tom Power Station in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Beginning in January 2017, Mt. Tom Solar, LLC will sell renewable energy from the facility to Holyoke Gas & Electric pursuant to a Power Purchase Agreement, which will benefit Holyoke residents. -

NEC Energy Solutions to Supply Battery Grid Energy Storage Solution in New England
NEC Energy Solutions (NEC ES), a subsidiary of NEC Corporation, today announced that it is supplying the Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD) of Sterling, MA with a 2MW, 3.9MWh GSS® grid energy storage solution. It will improve grid resiliency against weather-related power outages, while providing enhanced clean energy usage and cost savings to the town of Sterling. Town, State and NEC ES officials commemorated the project today in an official groundbreaking ceremony.
